Dupree Park Nature Center
Opened October 2002. One block west of Main St. and U. s. 37 inter. (On original Bankhead Highway route). A 57 acre nature preserve with winding hiking trails adjacent to the historic association's 1868 home of Henry Clay Thruston,
tallest soldier of the Civil War at 7 feet 7 and ½ inches. The preserve, with marked nature trail, is open from dawn to dusk. Adjacent Lowry Pavilion available for rental fro reunions, parties. Local nature tours available. Call 903-537-4760; 903-537-2027 for information. |
